Week 3 Project status

Solar:

Mikko: Found out what government aid Nestlé can get and how does Finland´s weather conditions    affect solar panel output.

Tommi: Checking information about different types of material and types that are used in solar panels. I also contacted other companies about their prices for installing the solar panels on the top of the building then I researched about what to do with the excess electricity that we may produce.

Aki: Making calculations about the leasing and buying aspects of the solar panels. Also which is the most cost-effective way to get the solar panels and if bought what is the time it takes to break even and start producing income.

Landfill waste + prototype:

Erik/Joni/Kristian:
  • Brainstormed prototype alternatives
  • reviewed Nestle's history of biowaste and landfill waste
  • waste removal's various costs
  • discussed Bioluup's machine and its potential benefit
  • discussed Ekopartnerit's means of waste disposal and relationship with Nestle

Water consumption:

Gemb/Tomi:
  • Data collection from the factory´s water consumption
  • Working with biowaste group

Stakeholder meeting at Nestlé factory 18.1.2018

We held a stakeholder meeting at Nestlé factory to find out where we should focus our efforts in the project. We had prepared questions and propositions for the stakeholders which we ran through and then we discussed which are good ideas and not so good ideas or ideas which we probably don’t have time for.

We also discussed marketing and we got a lot of useful information like where Nestlé would like us to advertise our results and who are we marketing to.
By the end of the meeting we confirmed who are the contact persons for our different groups and what we should do if we want to work on the project in the factory.

2. Water consumption:
- Mapping the water consumption (weekly cleaning, production
- Waterless urinals (costs, implementation)
- Current washing methods/habits

3. Landfill waste:
- Where it comes from, mapping
