Through my biotechnology studies, I had the chance to work at the Biomedical Research Institute of Armed Forces in order to find a vaccine against Zika Virus. As a part of my studies and with a student group, we started to create a material device capable of calculate the quantity of gluten in the composition of each aliments. This creation leads us at the 2nd place of a competition of innovation projects sponsored by enterprises. I’m studying nanotechnology in Turku University of Applied Science during one semester.
Beside my studies and work experiences, my principles strengths is my adaptability to work in a new environment, I’m also willing to learn some new things, I’m curious, positive thinker. I also have some weakness, as this project is my first project directly linked to an enterprise, maybe I won’t be confident enough in my task at beginning. But I’m not afraid of being a part of this project.
My hobbies are hiking in the nature, sports (horse riding, ice skating, gym training), but also go to the cinema and stay at home with my friends and family.
If I had to choose a slogan, I will take one from Mahatma Gandhi “The future depends on what we do in the present.”

Joni Kuisma
I’m 23-year-old student at Turku University of Applied Sciences. This is my third year in chemical engineering and I have planned to finish my studies in time (four years). I have been waiting for this capstone project, because it sounds like this is something where we could accomplish something good and meaningful. Show our skills and knowledge, learn something new, improve our project management and work with professionals and with real companies.
I consider myself a hard worker and an asset for a team, by bringing opinions and rational solutions with my good and diverse general knowledge. I like when a team can work well and efficiently together towards the goal, and I appreciate punctuality. I hate doing work which isn’t productive in any way, and if project leader can’t manage the team, I will try to support, bring ideas, and direct the team towards the goal. In some sense, I have good team managing skills and if necessary I can take the lead, so that we can reach the goal.
Currently I’m working at Wallac Oy as a part-time worker, making antibody-coated microtitration plates. Wallac Oy produces instruments and reagents for pre- and neonatal screening and various resource purposes. In addition to my work and studies, I go to gym at my free time and play various sports with my friends, I like to be active. Weekends I relax.
